Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

It's officially over for another season.

Well, the hockey season is officially over. Yesterday Spencer had his team party, and today Cameron has his. Check Cameron out in his gear. Is there anything cuter than a child in hockey equipment.

I never thought I would be a hockey mom. I always said that I didn't want my boys to play either football or hockey, but then I had a boy who adores sports. When we returned to Canada, he was so excited at the thought of strapping on skates and getting out on the ice. I gave in. How could I not?

Here we are 6 years later. All the boys have played and my past 6 winters have been spent in the arena several times a week. For the one year that all three boys played I was in the cold arena at least six times a week. ...and I actually enjoyed it. I can't say that I enjoyed the 6 a.m. practises (and there have been plenty of those) but I have really enjoyed standing in the stands (literally as the seats are way to cold to sit on!) watching them and encouraging them.

It has been a wonderful experience. We have had wonderful coaches and great parents. No one has gotten loud, rude, or arguementative. We've won some and lost some. Each one of the boys have been on winning teams that have won the championship, and each have been on teams that have not done so well. It never really seems to matter to the kids if they lose. They always have fun and learn so much about team work.

After 6 years I can say that I am a proud hockey mom! ...and I look forward to it all starting again in 7 months.

  1. I was a baseball mom. Jonathan played in baseball leagues for 7 or 8 years and Joshua played for 3 or 4. I remember going to games 3 or 4 times a week, sometimes to 2 stadiums in different parts of town (that's what happens when the kids are 6 years apart!). I wouldn't trade a minute of it and I'd do it all again. It was a lot of fun. And the best thing about it: NO 6AM PRACTICES!!

For the past 7 or 8 years I've been a band mom. That means something in the USA, especially when your kids love marching bands. I've spent entire Saturday afternoons watching high school marching band competitions. Joshua's band hosts one of the major competitions in the area, so you know the parents work really hard at that one. Dave and I really enjoy jumping into the car and driving to some other part of the state to watch the kids march. Of course, we also go to some of the Friday night football games. We sort of like watching the football games, but we really go to see the halftime show. As my T-shirt says, "Half-time is game time."

Joshua is looking forward to the next marching season, which begins in August and goes through November - and even into December if the football team goes to state championships. I think he's approved this posting, so I'll close and post it. :)

It's so great to be not only supportive of our children's "passions" but to enjoy it too! =D

I'm so happy that I have two girls though... I've never been a very sports oriented person, and I think I would have dread having boys for that reason.

With two girls, I can easily handle dance classes! LOL

    Enjoy your break! =D
