Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

December Daily - Dec. 7th, 8th, and 9th

December 7th
I love listening to Christmas music. I usually start listening to it the last week of November to help get me into the shopping mood. My ipod has a dedicated playlist for all my favourites. It's a great mix of traditional carols, Salvation Army band music, and secular songs. This year's newest addition is Michael Buble's Christmas album and I can't seem to listen to it enough. I'm sure my family will be sick of it by the time Christmas Day arrives.

December 8
Today I spent the day at the mall trying to tackle the long list of gifts that I need to buy this year. I’ve barely started my shopping. There’s something fun about darting from store to store looking for that perfect gift for the people I love ... but it can be very frustrating, too, when I don’t have a clue what to get someone. Today I was somewhat successful. Still, I think there will  be a few more days spent shopping before the 25th arrives. My plan is to have it all done by the 18th so I can spend the week before Christmas just enjoying this time of the year.
December 9th
Since we all play in the band, we spend a lot of time playing during the month of December. We play in various small groups at different functions but one of the favourite things to do is to play in the mall at the kettles.  I think I enjoy it more than the rest of my family. I love that all five of us, plus one or two more, make up our small group. I love sharing that time with my boys.

  1. I have to admit that I lost any love I had for Christmas kettles when I was 11 or 12. I'll admit that playing music is a lot more fun than ringing a bell. It's been decades since I hauled a brass instrument to a mall or street corner, and at least ten years since I've hauled a synthesizer to a mall to play. I've done my time; I'll leave it to you and yours to continue the tradition.

  2. Look at you in that Euphonium! It suits you! Music is one of my favourite parts of Christmas (especially the new Buble!)
