Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

What's the best present you can give a mother of young children? Time alone at home. Guess what I've just been given? That's right! John took Matthew away for the weekend to celebrate his 16th birthday, Spencer is at a party, and Cameron is at a friends house swimming. Ahhhhhhh! Time to myself, on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Can life get any better than this??

So last night my sister Cathy and I took Spencer and Cameron to the drive-in movies. Oakville still has a drive-in theatre. It has three screens and each one plays a double feature. We went to see Cars and RV.

I love going to the drive-in. It's so much more than just a movie ... it's a whole experience. We pull the van in backwards and open the hatch up. put the back seat down, turn the middle seats around, and put a pad down in the back with lots of pillows and blankets. Add to that lawn chairs, a cooler full of drinks and snacks, and you have the makings of a fantastic evening. It's a great way to spend a night. The only problem is that when the first movie starts at dark it is 9:45 p.m. (that's when it's finally dark enough in the summer here in the great white north!) So, when the second movie finished it was 1:45 a.m. I fell asleep before it finished, but Cathy and the boys were still going strong.

  2. I love drive-ins. It's too bad they're so hard to find these days. The drive-in experience is always fun, even if the movie reaks.

  3. It had been so long since I had been to a drive in. I think the last time was when Don and I were dating. We went to the 400 drive-in. Can't remember what movie it was - I wonder why....!

It's been a long time since I went to a drive-in! You make me want to try it very soon with the girls. We don't have a van, but I just realized that we could do something similar with our VW wagon... Thanks! :D
