Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

A Year-in-review ... a little late

I really hope this isn't setting a tone for this year. I spent most of December feeling one step behind, and now, here I am, posting my year-in-review 5 days late.

I'm stealing some meme questions from Devon. I thought they were great questions.

Here it goes:

1. What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
I don't know if there was anything this year that I haven't done before, except to go away for over two weeks without my boys. I've left them behind before, but never for that long.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My goals from last year were to get back to a healthier lifestyle in eating and exercising. There were times I did well, and times I didn't do so well. My goals remain the same.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
my nephew and his wife gave birth to their first child in December - a beautiful baby girl named Clare.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Fortunately no one close to us.

5. What countries did you visit?
In March we went on a Cruise to Mexico, Belize, Roatan Honduras, and the Cayman Islands.
In July we went to Brasil on a mission trip with the band
In September I went to Boston, Mass with the girls
In October John and I went on our anniversary cruise to the Mediterranean - we visited Spain, Italy, and Croatia.

6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
Energy. I felt like I spent too much time running here, there and everywhere and then exhausted at then end of the day.

7. What dates from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

July in Brasil - a great experience building a playground and bonding with the other band members
October in Italy - another amazing trip

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Being able to let go more with my boys as they continue to move into their adulthood.
Our backyard remodel.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not having the energy or desire to keep up with scrapbooking regularly.
Letting a certain friendship go - and taking it personally.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

No new illnesses or injury - just the continued back and neck problems

11. What was the best thing you bought?

I can't think of anything special - well, maybe our new family room furniture.

12. Where did most of your money go?

backyard remodel, travel, university tuition, and everyday living.

13. What did you get really excited about?
Traveling and a new venture coming my way.

14. What song(s) will always remind you of 2012?

?

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:

– happier or sadder? same
– thinner or fatter? same
– richer or poorer? same - although John probably feels poorer

16. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Scrapbooking
organizing
exercising

17. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Worrying
 eating junk
running around

18. How did you spend Christmas?

Christmas Day was spent at home with my family and my sister Cathy and her husband Don., and my brother Rick. It was a quiet day for the most part of just enjoying each other. Then the evening was spent cleaning and getting ready for our big family get together that was held at our house Boxing Day. 28 for dinner.

19. What was your favorite TV program?

Dare I admit it? I love the Real Housewives from anywhere!
Dr. Phil is still a favourite too.
Vampire Diaries
Big Bang Theory

20. What were your favorite books of the year?

 The Help

21. What was your favorite music from this year?

I can't say I have any favorites from this year.

22. What were your favorite films of the year?

War Horse
ARGO

23. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I turned 51. We went out for dinner.

24. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
to have more energy

25. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
comfortable - jeans, tshirts, sweaters, flats, yoga pants, leggings. As long as it's comfortable.

26. What kept you sane?

My family. Somehow just being together at the end of the day, around the dinner table, makes everything right with the world.

27. Tell us a valuable  lesson you learned in 2012.
That John and I still enjoy each other's company and have fun together. We were a little worried how we would do on our 2 week cruise when it was just us - no boys or other family. We didn't get bored with each other and enjoyed being just a couple again. It's very reassuring as we start moving towards having an empty nest.
