Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

Yesterday Matt and I had to go into Toronto on an errand. We stopped for lunch along the way. It was just the two of us and we had a great time together. We talked. Alot. It's been a long time since we've talked like that ... about deep personal things.
We talked about Nonverbal Learning Disorder and how he feels it affects him.
We talked about his tough years - grade seven and eight (and some of the high school times.)
He talked about the times he regrets.
He talked about what he would change if he could go back in time.
We talked about what he where he wants to go from here.
He talked with great insight - it surprised me.

It took me back in time when he was 4, 5, and 6 years old. When I would tuck him into bed at night we would talk and talk and talk. I miss those days.

  1. Wow, what a wonderful conversation it must've been! I often have those talks with my younger one, but my older one doesn't quite have the words (or insight) to go there yet.

    You're a great mom, Barbara! <3

  2. Barbara I totally understand what you mean. My son and I used to have talks before bedtime and I would lie down beside him and he would talk, talk and talk some more. I didn't care if he was hoping to avoid going to sleep but those are the best memories I have. I am so happy that you were able to get that feeling again. :D

  3. That's wonderful to have that conversation with your son. I'm so not looking forward to those days when my son doesn't want to talk anymore. So glad he's come around again.
