Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

Our Long Weekend

We spent the long weekend in Ottawa. We went up to visit our very dear friends, the MacKays. We met Barb, Vern, Emily and Martin when we moved to Barbados 12 years ago and they quickly became our best friends ... well, more like family. It doesn't matter how much time has past, when we are together, it's like we are in Barbados again. Time and distance hasn't changed our relationship.

They have a very nice home just outside Ottawa right by the Ottawa River. Around the corner is Barb's parents' cottage. The boys spent some time down by the river, swimming and fishing. The first couple of times out fishing Cameron didn't catch anything. Then Uncle Vern took him out in the row boat to a "good spot" and he caught a bass. He was very happy about that. They brought it home and cooked it up for breakfast.

The kids all enjoyed swimming in the river, except Matt. He made use of the row boat and had us all a little nervous when he started drifting in the current.

The highlight of the weekend was on Sunday when we all went paintballing. We've never been before and it took some convincing to get Barb to go, but she did. It was a blast. The first coupld of games we played parents against the kids. The kids liked this idea because they were sure that they would get us. Were they ever shocked when we totally creamed them in the first game. We picked them all off and they didn't get us at all. The other games were family against family and then mixed up when we had three others join us. It was so much fun. We all came home with big bruises and a lot of laughs. It's not every day you get to kill your kids or your spouse.
Thanks to the MacKays. We had a great weekend and I can't wait to do it again. (you know, there are some paintball places around here too ... and some indoor ones for the winter months ...hint, hint!)

Great photos! I love that your kids are so willing to pose for the camera. Mine just make stupid faces, and I end up getting frustrated at them and giving up. lol.

Btw, if you go back to my blog, there are pictures from our vacation in a photo album, linked on the left sidebar. ;)

  2. Sounds like a great weekend. I think I'd go for laser tag rather than paint ball, it's less painful and leaves no evidence behind.
