Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

What are you giving up for Lent?

OK. I know. I'm not catholic, and neither are a lot of you who visit my blog.

Yesterday when I was scrapping at the store, two of the girls, Christine, and Marian where talking about the challenge they were about to emark on. They were going to give up Scrapbook shopping for Lent. A quick vision passed through my head of the mounds and mounds of stuff sitting in my room at home. Knowing that I really don't need anything I jumped all over this. I decided to join them. 40 days of no scrapbooking purchases. Can I do it? I think I can ... I think I can ... I think I can ... (I did manage to convince them that we should each have one day of reprive where we can make some purchases ... because while I'm away in Florida I might see something that will be too good to pass up ... but we can't use it until the challenge is over.)

This all sounds well and good, doesn't it? The funny thing is that we shopped like crazy to stock up on what we will need over the next month and a half. So ... where's the challenge in that?

  1. Wow, Lent's already here?!? It's pretty funny that you prepared for your sacrifice by stocking up on goods beforehand. That's a pragmatic approach to the whole thing.

I'll tell you what - I'll give up eating vegetables!

Oh yeah, it has to be something I'd really miss. Well, maybe I'll think of something before Lent is over.

  2. For the prior years I have given up lunch at work unless it is a business meeting. I take the money I would have spent and put into a missions project of some sort. Two years ago the divisional project was to purchase piglets for Haiti....I was able to buy nearly two dozen by not eating lunch at work. I am forgoing lunches again this year.

    That's very cool Dave.

I like your commitment to Lent Barb, with a teeny weeny crack left open for your addiction. Remember you can only shop once in Florida...once!

Actually...I have to give you credit for this commitment considering the exciting time it is right now in the Scrapbook shops with all the new products arriving after CHA!!!

    You've got a stronger will than I.

I'm giving up my addiction to seriously over priced coffee at Starbucks, Second Cup, etc... I should save a bundle! And when Lent is over...I'm going to use all that money on new scrapbooking supplies!
