Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

Happy Birthday to me!

Today I'm 45. I now officially consider myself middle-aged. For all those younger people who are dreading their forties, let me tell you this. It's great. I'm really enjoying my forties more than I have any other decade.

So, to celebrate, here is my Thursday Thirteen for today:

Thirteen Things about Why life is great after 40

1. You are secure in who you are. It no longer matters to you what others might think.
2. You have a wide variety of experiences.
3. You’re able to say no and not worry about pleasing people.
4. Time is more valuable than money
5. You don’t try to suck in your gut and it doesn’t matter who sees it.
6. You can go to bed at 9 p.m. and not miss anything because all your friends are doing the same.
7. You acquire a new interest in all things medical and enjoy sharing medical information with your peers.
8. You secrets are safe with your friends because they won’t remember them either.
9. You don’t sweat the small stuff.
10. Speed limits are speed limits, not a starting point.
11. You gain the ability to read the weather through your body. You don’t need the meteorologist to tell you that it’s going to rain.
12. You have a convenient excuse now for forgetting appointments.
13. You really appreciate the finer things in life.

  4. Uh-oh. I'm a lot younger than you and a lot of this already applies. What does that say about us? (you're late, I'm early?)

Happy TT and have a wonderful, wonderful birthday!

Happy Birthday to You! I love your list, I agree with all of it, the only thing is, as soon as I turned 40, my body started falling apart. I just had my gall bladder out last week! I am 46 and other than that, I love my forties. These are my years of enlightenment, so many things seem to make more sense. Have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

  9. Great list! I enjoyed my 30s more than my 20s, and I'm enjoying the 40s too. We must be hitting our prime.

  10. Happy birthday...and welcome to this side of the hill.

Your speed limit comment would not hold up her who tend to see the interstate number signs as the speed limit. Trucker ally, I 81, 80 is common and speeds can get higher on I 95.
