Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

Hello from the road

We are having a fantastic time. Currently I'm sitting in a laundry mat waiting for my close to be de-smelled in Jasper. What a wonderful thing, this internet! No matter where I am in the world I can be in contact!

So far we have crammed in a lot of things into the space of a week. We spent three nights up at a campground called David Thompson Resort which is up in the vacinity of the Columbia Ice Fields. While STephen, Gayle and family camped, we rented an on-site trailer that was big enough to accomodate all of us. There we did lots of driving and site seeing in the area. The mountains are just so breathtaking!

On our way to Jasper, we made a stop at the Columbia Ice Fields where we got to actually walk on a glacier. It was so cool to know that the ice beneath our feet fell as snow over 400 years ago. Hard to fathom. The boys loved it there!

We have spent four nights in Jasper. We have hiked a few times to different places, one being another glacier where we spent some time around a glacier lake. Another very cool place that the boys loved! We have done some white-water rafting (nothing too rough as we had all the kids with us)and shopping. I definately have to come back here and spend more time.

One day as we were driving into the townsite there were lots of elk just grazing on the side of the road. We got out and took lots of pictures. We were so close to them and they didn't even seem to notice.

Today we leave here to head into BC to the Canyon Hot Springs. We will spend a week there. I can't believe how fast time is going. ...but I'm enjoying every minute of it.

The best part, of course, is that I get to spend all this time with family. Can life get any better than this?

Lots of pictures to share when I get back!

We are having a great time here. We spent two days chilling and relaxing. Gayle and I spent one afternoon having a girls' lunch with Joanne. It was so great to sit and chat and catch up on things. I really miss having my sister close by. I know that she is really enjoying life out here and the great job she has, but for selfish reasons I wish she was still in Ontario.

Yesterday John, Stephen and Bruce went golfing and Gayle and I took the kids to Drumheller (sp?) to see the Dinosaur museum. It's in the Badlands which is a facinating place. We were able to take the kids on a Dino Dig where we got to prospect for Dinosaur bones and other fossils. It was very cool. The kids were finding all kinds of things including Dinosaur tendon. They loved it, inspite of the dreadful heat. We also got to see an unexcavated dinosaur site where there were the bones of a smallish dinosaur partially exposed. Very cool. The boys were facinated.

Last night Joanne came over for supper and we were able to sit and chat more.

In a few minutes we leave with Stephen and his family for two weeks on the road. The van is packed and ready to go and in an hour or so we will be in the mountains. We are making a stop in Banff on our way up to a place called David Thompson resort.

I've already taken two rolls of film so I whould have lost of pictures to share when we get back.

We've arrived!

We're in Calgary. We arrived after 11p.m. last night after a very tiring day of packing, getting the house tidied up, and flying out here in the evening. The boys were very excited to finally board the plane. Cameron tells me he loves flying ... he certainly doesn't get that from me!

We we got here to Stephen's house it was after midnight, local time (2 a.m. home time.) Emily and Nathan were still up as they were just as excited to see Cameron as he was to see them. After chatting for a few minutes with everyone, we all crashed ... well, except for the three muskateers who were chatting away. It was so nice to hear them giggling away long after the lights were out.

It's good to be here!

Music Camp

Junior Music Camp is over for antoher year. What started out as a tough week due to issues in our cabin, ended as another fun-filled week. The kids all had a good time. As usual, the water was flying all week. I don't know how many times I ended up wet. Cameron had a great time. He did very well with his music and met some wonderful friends in his cabin. The last day of camp he ended up not feeling well (I'm sure all due to lack of sleep) so I let him have a nap in my cabin for a while. Spencer and Matthew were there as Junior Faculity which meant they were helping out with the programmes. They had a lot of fun. Spencer said he much prefers junior faculty over being a camper. I think the highlight for him was being able to play in the faculty band with all the adults.

The highlight for me would be the last night. After the cabin was in bed, we spotted two of the men sneaking behind the cabins with water buckets. A huge water fight started and ended up going on for almost three hours until about 2 a.m. It was such a blast!

OK. now I have to switch gears! We are off to Calgary today. We will be spending the next three weeks out west visiting my brother and his family and my sister and her husband. I can't wait to see them all. ...but before that I have a ton of stuff to get done, including finishing my packing.

Have some extra time on your hands? Want to have your hand writing analysed? Check out this site for a self exam. Kind of cool. The Handwriting Wizard

Thanks, Robyn, for sharing this link with me.

Here are my results. What do you think? Are they accurate. I think they are.

Barbara has a healthy imagination and displays a fair amount of trust. She lets new people into her circle of friends. She uses her imagination to understand new ideas, things, and people.

Barbara is sarcastic. This is a defense mechanism designed to protect her ego when she feels hurt. She pokes people harder than she gets poked. These sarcastic remarks can be very funny. They can also be harsh, bitter, and caustic at the same time.

Barbara is a practical person whose goals are planned, practical, and down to earth. This is typical of people with normal healthy self-esteem. She needs to visualize the end of a project before she starts. she finds joy in anticipation and planning. Notice that I said she plans everything she is going to do, that doesn't necessarily mean things go as planned. Barbara basically feels good about herself. She has a positive self-esteem which contributes to her success. She feels she has the ability to achieve anything she sets her mind to. However, she sets her goals using practicality-- not too "out of reach". She has enough self-confidence to leave a bad situation, yet, she will not take great risks, as they relate to her goals. A good esteem is one key to a happy life. Although there is room for improvement in the confidence catagery, her self-perception is better than average.

In reference to Barbara's mental abilities, she has a very investigating and creating mind. She investigates projects rapidly because she is curious about many things. She gets involved in many projects that seem good at the beginning, but she soon must slow down and look at all the angles. She probably gets too many things going at once. When Barbara slows down, then she becomes more creative than before. Since it takes time to be creative, she must slow down to do it. She then decides what projects she has time to finish. Thus she finishes at a slower pace than when she started the project. She has the best of two kinds of minds. One is the quick investigating mind. The other is the creative mind. Her mind thinks quick and rapidly in the investigative mode. She can learn quicker, investigate more, and think faster. Barbara can then switch into her low gear. When she is in the slower mode, she can be creative, remember longer and stack facts in a logical manner. She is more logical this way and can climb mental mountains with a much better grip.

Barbara will be candid and direct when expressing her opinion. She will tell them what she thinks if they ask for it, whether they like it or not. So, if they don't really want her opinion, don't ask for it!

Barbara is moderately outgoing. Her emotions are stirred by sympathy and heart rendering stories. In fact, she can be kind, friendly, affectionate and considerate of others. She has the ability to put herself into the other person's shoes. Barbara will be somewhat moody, with highs and lows. Sometimes she will be happy, the next day she might be sad. She has the unique ability to get along equally well with what psychology calls introverts and extroverts. This is because she is in between. Psychology calls Barbara an ambivert. She understands the needs of both types. Although they get along, she will not tolerate anyone that is too "far out." She doesn't sway too far one way or the other. When convincing her to buy a product or an idea, a heart rendering story could mean a great deal to her. She puts herself in the same situation as the person in the story, yet she will not buy anything that seems overly impractical or illogical. Barbara is an expressive person. She outwardly shows her emotions. She may even show traces of tears when hearing a sad story. Barbara is a "middle-of-the-roader," politically as well as logically. She weighs both sides of an issue, sits on the fence, and then will decide when she finally has to. She basically doesn't relate to any far out ideas and usually won't go to the extreme on any issue.

People that write their letters in an average height and average size are moderate in their ability to interact socially. According to the data input, Barbara doesn't write too large or too small, indicating a balanced ability to be social and interact with others.

According to the inputted data, Barbara has a stinger shape inside the oval of her a, d, or c. This might be hard to visualize, but if this little hooklike shape is present, then Barbara has an unresolved "issue" with strong members of the opposite gender. An occasional appearance of this stroke could indicate a simple "loves a mental challenge" which can manifest in playful linguistic conversations and being attracted to a lover who isn't always available. However, if the stroke is severe, this means the individual has unresolved anger at the oppostive gender - which usually started with the person's childhood relationship with the opposite gender parent (Mom or Dad). If the writer is a woman she will be attracted to strong challenging men. If the writer is a man, he will find the woman who is "hard to get" the most attractive. In a nutshell, people with stingers in their writing tend to have challenges in their romantic relationships. For more information about this "stinger" trait, visit this webpage: http://www.myhandwriting.com/analyze/hlltrt5.html. Remember, it is only negative if the traits occurs often and is quite pronounced. An occasional stinger can be no problem.
