Welcome to a day in my life. I can't guarantee that this will be an exciting read for anyone. My life is filled with all the mundane activities of a stay-at-home-mom just trying to raise her three sons to be the best men they can be.

CKU Here we come!

Tomorrow morning we, myself and 7 other women, leave for CKU Stamford. I'm so excited. Three days of classes, girl-talk, and fun. For the next three days this is our playground.

I'm sure I will have so much to BLOG about when I'm back and have oodles of pics to share. Now I'm off to finish packing.

Wilma

I saw this on another BLOG and got a laugh so I thought I'd share it here.

I must admit that everytime I hear about hurricane Wilma, I can hear Fred Flinstone calling "Wilma" as only Fred can.

Bits and Pieces

I can't beleive that it's the weekend already. Where has the time gone?

Cameron made it through his first day of testing without any difficulties. He begged and pleaded with me to allow him to take the rest of the day off from school. He told me that he was much to tired to try and work at school. After school he informed me that it was my fault that he got homework because if I had of let him take the day off he wouldn't have got any. Can't argue with that logic I guess.

I'm trying to get myself and the kids ready for me going away. On Wednesday of next week I leave to attend CKU Stamford. I'm so looking forward to getting away with my girlfriends and attending this convention but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with all that I need to do to get myself and them ready. I have to reorganize some of their schedules. I return on the Sunday so I'm only going to be away for 5 days, but it's amazing how much those 5 days affect things around here. On top of it all, I need to get everything ready for Halloween before I go because I won't have time when I get back. Halloween is the next day.

Yesterday Cameron and I had a very interesting conversation. It went something like this:

Cameron: Mom, why do you have to go away? (I'm thinking, what's up with this? He's never had a problem with me going away before.)

Me: We'll, sometimes Mom's need a break too. I'm going on a scrapbooking weekend.

Cameron: Scrapbooking! That's all you ever do is scrapbooking! (awwwww. My baby's going to miss me!)

Me: I really enjoy it, Honey.

Cameron: But why do you have to be away for Halloween?

Me: I won't be away for Halloween. I'll be back the day before Halloween.

Cameron: (indignant) You know how much Halloween means to us!! How could you do that to us! (I think I'm finally getting the picture.)

Me: Don't worry, Buddy. Dad will help you decorate the house and carve the pumpkins.

Cameron: Oh, OK!

Shouldn't I be at the LSS playing right now??

It's my playday today. I should be at the store, playing with my friends LOL! I want to be at the store playing with my friends. I normally never let anything interfer with my Tuesdays but today Cameron is going through the educational testing. I took him this morning. After the initial meeting with the tester (I'm not sure what to call him) I left. Cameron will go through three hours of testing today and then finish up next week. I'm anxious to know if there's something that is making school so frustrating for him right now. He gets along well at school, but he's just finding the work so overwhelming and having meltdowns at home over the homework.

I found these two pictures of him on my computer just now.

This is Cameron at the age of three. He was so cute!!

Hahahaha! I love this picture. He was 6. He was mad because he didn't get to drink out of the pop bottle first.

This is a recent layout of Cameron. What a sweetie he is. (I feel sorry for the cat, though!)

It's the weekend and nothing much to do except play!

We were up early this morning for Cameron's first hockey game of the season. The arena was very cold this morning but I didn't care as I had my Tim's tea and John to keep me warm. Cameron's team lost 3-1. We scored in the last three seconds of the game ... my boy got the assist!!

Look what I finished yesterday.

I saw this idea on twopeas and had to copy it. The original was done by "Sherrypie." I'm thrilled with the way it turned out. The bottom is chalkboard spray paint. The container on the top right holds the chalk. I still need to add a pen. I think I'm going to make some more altered clipboards.

This afternoon we have one more hockey game. Spencer plays at 4. After that I'm going to a pre-CKU crop that my friend, Christyne is hosting. Can't wait!

Last night we went into Toronto, as we do every Thursday night, for Band Practice at our Church. First is Junior Band for the kids, and then Senior Band for 13 and over. I help out with the Junior Band as all three boys are in it, and then John, myself, and two of the boys play in the Senior Band.

Last night, I didn't feel like staying to help with the Junior Band so I dropped the boys off and went for a walk. Our Church is at Yonge and Eglinton. It was a gorgeous night. I love the city ... especially at night. I love the lights from the buildings and the way they bounce off the mirrored windows. I love the smell of the food cooking in all the different restaurants. I love to watch the people making their way home from work, or heading out for the evening. I love strolling by the restaurant windows and seeing the diners sitting at their tables lined with table clothes eating by candlelight. I love the city.

This morning Cameron had his first 6 a.m. hockey practise of the season. It was so hard to get up for it. I might as well get used to it because according to the schedule, he has one every second week. I haven't seen Spencer's schedule yet.

This is a layout from last year's hockey season. There's just something about a boy in hockey gear! (I just wish I didn't have to see it at 6 a.m.!)

Another busy weekend!

On Thursday morning we left to go to Fairfax, Virginia to spend Thanksgiving with my brother and his family. My parents came with us. We arrived there by supper time. Friday and Saturday we were able to tour some of the Smithsonians. This was a good thing as it poured rain both days! Sunday we spent the day pigging out on turkey and pumpkin pie. My mom makes the best pumpkin pie and it is always the best part of the meal.

When we got home last night I had a ton of laundry to do and Cameron had to finish a project that was due today. Fortunately he was almost done and just needed some last minute additions and then he had to practise presenting.

Today I got to play with my friends at the Scrapbook Store. I didn't get a lot done, but I did finish this layout for the journaling challenge that I did. When Spencer saw the layout and read the journaling he gave me the biggest hug!!! (the journaling is on the last BLOG entry.)

Happy 13th birthday Spencer!

I had to do a journaling challenge for one of the Scrapbooking boards I go to. The challenge was to first write the journaling and then find the pictures to go with it. I figured what better journaling then on Spencer becoming 13 and being the middle child. Here it is:

Today you turned 13. As I've reflected back over the years, I'm so aware that sometimes you were given a raw deal. You are the middle child. You are the second of three boys. I know that being in the middle is not always easy. You aren't the first and you're not the last, but I hope you know that you are blessed. God placed you in the middle. You are a little brother and you are a big brother. You have someone to learn from, and someone to teach. You have someone to follow, and someone to lead. You have someone to look up to, and someone who looks up to you.

You may feel that sometimes you don't get the same amount of attention as you brothers, or that life is unfair at times. During those times remember that we love you more than life itself. We are so proud of who you are and the person that you are becoming. You are a kind and sensitive young man who desires to do the best that you can do. We are proud of the kind of brother you are. You show a lot of sensitivity and patience with your older brother, and a lot of caring and leadership with your younger brother.

You may feel that you drew the worst spot in our family, but to us you drew the best. It made you who you are ... perfect!

Enjoy being 13, Spencer! You're a great kid.

Caution: busy weekend ahead

I set my alarm a little early today so I could get up and get my internet fix before we are off for the weekend. We have to go up to close the trailer. I've already warned the boys that they are going to be working. We'll see how much of a help they actually are!

After that we are off to Fenlon Falls for a Junior Band trip for the weekend. The boys are all playing and John and I are going along to help out.

Tomorrow Spencer turns 13!!!!!! I know he's so excited at the thought of becoming a teenager and I'm excited for him. More on him in his birthday post.

I was so lazy yesterday (maybe I was conserving my energy knowing what was ahead of me for the weekend.) It was kinda nice. I stayed in my PJs until I had to go and do the school pick-up. I even had a nap on the couch. It was nice. Last night I spent some time putting layouts into albums. During the big move I realized just how many I have just laying around. It will take me a while to get them all where they're supposed to be.

My boys relaxing and having fun together. There won't be much of that going on this weekend!

Have a good one everyone.
